Dr. Hanna Poikonen is a dancer at heart, a neuroscientist by education, and the creator of the WiseMotion method. She holds a doctoral degree in the neuroscience of dance and music from the University of Helsinki and has studied contemporary dance, martial arts and meditation in New York, Montreal, Tokyo, Barcelona, Berlin and Helsinki. Currently, she continues brain research in math expertise and higher education at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and investigates how creative movement can support mental health at the Örebro University Hospital in Sweden.
The WiseMotion method combines creative movement, meditation and neuroscience in a practical way. With WiseMotion, Hanna has toured institutions, festivals and wellness resorts like Harvard Medical School (USA), Technical University of Berlin (Germany), Dublin Dance Festival (Ireland), Brain Film Fest (Barcelona), Six Senses (Portugal and Spain) and Joali Being (Maldives). Hanna’s work has been featured in Condé Nast Traveller, BBC StoryWorks & Global Wellness Institute, Korean Broadcast System, Women’s Health, Psychology Today, Svenska Dagbladet, and Helsingin Sanomat, among others.
For Hanna, art, science, and well-being merge together in a dynamic way, creating health, joy and purpose – ideally shared with other curious minds.
