This may be controversial, but do you sometimes wish you could run a mile at Christmas and New Year?
Stress is at an all-time high during the festive period with anxiety-inducing parties, expensive gift shopping and the expectations of family and friends. Throw in the Christmas WhatsApp groups, social media countdowns and the constant bombardment of discounts and offers in the media and you’ve got yourself a recipe for complete overwhelm – especially when it’s still only October!
Swap turkey for travel
So, what if the festive period looked a little different this year? Imagine being able to watch all of the hype play out over the next few weeks, knowing that you’ll be spending the last of 2022 doing something far deeper and more impactful.
Whether it’s a personal journey to deepen the understanding and connection to your mind, body and soul or helping others in different cultures and communities, there are many ways to spend the holiday season. It could be about personal growth, a spiritual awakening, volunteering to help others or simply rest and relaxation
Weigh up your options
If you want to take the power back into your own hands, have a think about what is really stopping you, write it all down and ask yourself what you really want. If 2022 hasn’t gone your way, maybe this is the time to step back and reflect. If it’s been a successful year, maybe it’s time to pause and take stock.
End the year with a trip just for you (or with your nearest and dearest) that has nothing to do with festivities but everything to do with transformation. Pursue a hobby or interest that you’ve never managed to make the time for. Or devote your time to helping others in one of many volunteering opportunities to bring joy to people that truly need it.
