This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute significantly to the conservation of the rhino species for future generations to enjoy.
South Africa is a country in the southernmost tip of the African continent and is renowned for its great natural beauty. From the pristine white sand beaches and glorious Cape Winelands of the Western Cape to the world famous Kruger Park, a trip to South Africa is sure to tick many boxes on your travel bucket list. Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s largest game reserves and is home to the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos, plus hundreds of other mammals and bird species such as vultures, eagles and storks.
Unfortunately, rhino poaching, driven by the demand for the animal’s horn, has reached a crisis point worldwide. At present, three of the five species of rhino are critically endangered, with two having fewer than 80 animals left in the wild. The good news is, that together we can contribute to the survival of this species in the wild.
This unforgettable, eight-day trip is with our Remarkable Transformer, Archie Rutherford who arranges exclusive access to rhinos during the darting process and subsequent research work undertaken by the authorities. It’s an exclusive hands-on wildlife conservation operation where you will join a team of wildlife rangers, conservationists and wildlife vets on the ground and assist them with their work by helping attach tracking collars, taking measurements, administering antibiotics, monitoring vital signs, taking DNA samples and much more.
Your journey through South Africa will begin in the vibrant city of Cape Town where you will spend four nights exploring the city, touring Cape Peninsula, one of the Cape’s most breathtakingly beautiful scenic destinations and wine tasting in some of South Africa’s premier wine farms. You will then spend three nights in South Africa’s most celebrated wildlife area, the notorious Sabi Sands Game Reserve, located adjacent to the Kruger National Park. Along with your rhino conservation experience, you will enjoy private game drives, set out on foot through the reserve in search of Africa’s Big Five and enjoy an evening tasting a special collection of South Africa’s most celebrated local wines plus some of the world’s finest whiskies.
This beautifully designed trip will ensure a South African experience of a lifetime and guarantee you an African safari (with a purpose) that you will never forget.
